Lillian Axe's Love and War's huge, melodramatic
production sounded cool when we first heard it.
In retrospect, all that reverb now sounds pre-
posterous.

With the CD drive on my stereo bust, I've been
rooting through the dusty boxes of tapes.
Start-the-day morning tunes over the past few
weeks include:

KISS - Double Platinum. All the early stuff. 'She'
still sounds good. I'm convinced Paul Stanley's
gay, so it's impossible to take any of the lyrics
serious - ditto, Simmons.

Adam Ant - Wonderful. Rubbish. Written by a man
in recovery but still on the edge, which is what
he was.

House of Lords - S/T. The happy memories it evokes
are better than the actual music, I think. The
album doesn't gel at all - like 'No Rules' it
sounds like it was written over a long period.

Michael Monroe - S/T. Only because I thought it
was the Jerusalem Slim tape. Hanoi/Monroe's watery
sub-Stones R&B has never done anything for me.

Burn:Cycle - Soundtrack. The trippy, trancy, electro
soundtrack to a Philips CDi game (remember those?)
which sold about 3 copies. Absolutely ace! Perfect
mood music for 7:30am.

I never knew anything of the band Kilswitch (no, not Kilswitch Engage), and then I picked up their cd 'Freestyle...the kilswitch demos' out of interest and it blew me away. Like a cross between Skid Row, Alleycat Scratch, with the chunky baseline of Bang Tango.
Their 2nd was wasn't as good (uppercut), but that first one is one of my favourite cds of all time.

Great photography, great singles, but the rest
conforms to the old Roth adage: 'Most albums have
about 3/4 good songs on them at best - the rest
is just fodder.' Personally I don't believe
this; 'Leather Boyz...' is all fodder. [img]wink.gif[/img]

D'molls (Debut black and white cover with the legs) I had only heard 777 and thought they were a religous band, hearing the disk they became one of my favorite bands why didnt they release "All I Want" is beyond comprehension.
